Introduction & Personality Quiz

This course is the missing manual of things that school doesn't teach you. It helps you become the best version of yourself and answer questions about how to pursue your goals and life.

Lesson Outline

1. Warm-Up: Steve Jobs on the Secret to Life (5 minutes)

Objective: Inspire students to take agency in shaping their lives.Activity:

  • Watch the Steve Jobs 1994 interview segment (2:30 min): Video above.
  • Reflect on Jobs' key message: "Everything around you... was made up by people that were no smarter than you. And you can change it... mold it."

2. Activity: Discover Your Personality Type (90 minutes)

Objective: Understand personality strengths to guide personal and career decisions.Activity:

  • Take the 16Personalities Test (20 min). Answer honestly; no right or wrong answers.
  • Review results (30 min): Read your personality type description (e.g., INFP, ESTJ) and note key strengths, weaknesses, and career tendencies.
  • Discuss what careers align with your personality type (10 min).
  • Discuss what summer project aligns with your personality type (10 min).
  • Discuss what hobby aligns with your personality type (10 min).
  • Discuss what things you like that do not align with your personality type. Are there careers or hobbies that don't align with your type that you enjoy? (10 min.)

3. Decide on a Summer Project (25 minutes)

Objective: Choose a summer project aligned with your personality type.Activity:

  • Brainstorm potential summer projects (20 min).
  • Select a project (5 min).
  • If you are unable to decide spend the rest of the day thinking about what you might like to do. What goals you may have for it, do you want to earn income from it. Do you want to use it as a learning experience to gain new skills?
